Former Republican Representative Trey Gowdy stopped by Fox News on Wednesday to give his take on the recent bombshell news that former acting deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe tried to get President Trump removed from office.
McCabe has been making the media rounds in anticipation for the release of his book detailing his time as acting deputy director before being fired by Trump.
In his book, he alleges that none of the Republicans in the Senate intelligence committees took issue with him opening a counterintelligence investigation into Trump after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.
Gowdy is highly suspicious of McCabe’s claims and dropped a bombshell on the supposed story that the media is running with.
“The reason he’s doing it this way is that Devin [Nunes] and Paul [Ryan] are not allowed to discuss anything that’s said in a ‘Gang of Eight’ meeting and McCabe knows that. So he can level the accusation and Devin and Paul cannot refute him.”
Gowdy doubts that he would not have heard about this supposed second investigation during his time in Congress.
“I listened to Devin and Paul quiz the [Justice Department] on multiple occasions about the one counterintelligence investigation, we all knew about it. I find it stunning that they would know about a second one and not say a single solitary word.”
Gowdy would know better than anyone the inner workings of these intelligence committees in Congress. SHARE if you believe him over McCabe!
