While Rep. Steve Scalise is in a Washington DC rehabilitation unit recovering from the gunshot wound he suffered months ago, he just got a wonderful gift from his home state of Louisiana to help in his recovery.
Scalise, the House Majority Whip, is a New Orleans native and misses his Louisiana comfort food.
Thankfully, several restaurants are lining up to make sure he doesn’t have to go without his Cajun favorites while he recuperates.
Drago’s Seafood Restaurant proprietor Tommy Cvitanovich spoke with The Advocate about the food initiative for Scalise.
“He’s a friend, and he’s a true advocate for the hospitality and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana.”
Cvitanovich said that there is no shortage of restaurants lining up to send food on the 1000 mile journey to Scalise.
“The cool thing about the restaurateurs in New Orleans is that while we compete, we are very tight, we are each other’s best friends. The word travels among our group, and the people step up.”
Let’s hear it for these restaurants going above and beyond to show their support for a fellow American in his time of need!
