President Trump held a cabinet meeting last Sunday at Camp David where he and Vice President Mike Pence were briefed on the developing situation in Florida with respect to Hurricane Irma.
Bucking tradition, First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence opted to attend the press briefing because both women are deeply concerned for those in the path of the hurricane and intend to be directly involved with the federal response to the disaster.
Stephanie Grisham, Melania’s communications director told Fox News “The first lady has been involved in all aspects of both Hurricane Harvey, and now Hurricane Irma. As you know, she went with the president on both trips to Texas to visit with and thank first responders, donate goods and serve food at a shelter, help pass out boxes at a distribution center, and visit a neighborhood that was impacted by the storm.”
Dan Scavino Jr., director of social media & assistant to the president Tweeted a series of photos showing Melania and Karen participating in the discussion.
